What You Need to Know

For years, I have served as a useful source to those seeking inspiration, help, or advice. I finally decided to own that role and be intentional about it. I started writing about my passions, my thoughts, and curious wonderings about our world. I founded cinestyle.com with a mission to give others a taste of what goes on in my mind, and I have been at it ever since.

Take some time to explore the blog, read something interesting, and feel free to reach out if you would like to collaborate on a project together.

Have you ever been interested in the world of cinematography? Have you wondered what it would be like to understand the science of film making? Do you enjoy the idea of cameras, editing, and film review? The basic definition of cinematography is the art of making motion pictures. Therefore, understanding the basics of how they are made can help any young, inspiring cinematographer gain a head start in the industry.

Did you know you can use different size of shots to tell different stories? Shots, ranging in all sizes, help you set scenes, identify personalities, bring it new emotional twists, and tell the story you are trying to convey.

In order to be successful in cinematography, you must understand how to arrange the shot. Symmetry, camera angles, and balance are only a few basic ways to arrange the shot exactly the way you would like it.

If you are interested in working in cinematography, the basic knowledge of a camera will be key. Cameras can control everything from focus, color, and movement and is your entire life while filming. Basic camera knowledge for beginners will carry you a long way while first being introduced in the industry.

Cameras allow you to shape the color of the shot. Color can say different things about your pictures, it sets the mood, allows different emotions to come forth, and allows viewers to relate to the scenes through their own feelings. Cameras control color for the reason of story telling.

Editing is another necessity. You aren’t always successful the first few times you shoot, so being able to edit with patience and your story in mind allows you to shape the footage you have into the story that you want to tell.

There are a lot of factors that can play a role into being successful in the cinematography world. However, the most important would be being passionate about what you are making. Cinematography requires love of the story being told. If you have none, then it will be difficult to allow others to develop love and passion for that story. If you find a story you are passionate about and understand the basics of cinematography, then you will be ready to share your story with more people.
